What this directory is

Ontario Garage Builders Directory lists 200 garage builders across Ontario, built for homeowners who want to compare builders without wading through inflated ads or vague claims. Whether you’re planning a detached double garage in Ottawa or a garage-with-loft conversion in the Niagara region, the goal here is simple: give you a clear, evidence-based starting point before you pick up the phone.

This is an independent directory and comparison resource. We also generate enquiries for local providers: when you ask to be matched with a builder, we pass your enquiry to providers relevant to your request, and we may receive a referral fee for that introduction. Referral arrangements never affect scores or earned rankings. That separation matters to us, and it’s built into how the site is put together, not just claimed after the fact.

Who publishes it

The directory is published by Ontario Garage Builders, an Ontario-based publisher that has run this project since 2026. The publisher exists to solve a specific problem: it’s genuinely hard to tell a garage builder with real credentials apart from one with a good ad budget. So the directory is built from published review data and public business records instead, with rankings earned through performance rather than paid placement. Editorial oversight of the rankings sits with Elena Whitfield, Senior Editor. She’s responsible for how the rubric is applied and for keeping the ranking process honest as the database grows.

How listings are built

Each listing starts from public business data: things like registration details, service areas, and contact information. On top of that, we synthesise recent Google reviews to surface patterns in customer sentiment. We do not republish review text, and we link out to Google so you can read the original reviews yourself rather than take our summary on faith.

How rankings work

Rankings are earned from a published rubric applied to that data, nothing else. There’s no pay-to-rank option. Where sponsorship exists on a page, it’s clearly labelled “Sponsored”, displayed separately from the earned ranking, and it never changes a business’s position in that ranking. A listed business can request corrections to its own factual details, things like hours, address, or services offered. What it cannot do is edit its own score, sentiment summary, or ranking position. Those stay independent of the business being listed, by design.

Keeping it current

The underlying database refreshes monthly, pulling updated review signals and business records. Individual listings carry a “last verified” stamp so you can see at a glance how recently that specific page was checked, rather than assuming the whole site was updated at once.
